Here's what Enrique is doing these days:
- Still performing, but more selectively. Although he has largely stepped away from the relentless touring schedule that made him famous, Enrique continues to headline major concerts and festivals. - Family comes first. Enrique lives a very private life with former tennis star Anna Kournikova in Florida. The couple has been together for more than two decades and are devoted parents. Enrique has often said that spending time with his children is now more important to him than maintaining a nonstop recording and touring schedule.
- Maintaining a lower public profile. Unlike many celebrities, Enrique rarely gives interviews and keeps his personal life out of the spotlight. He communicates mainly through social media and official announcements while enjoying a quieter lifestyle.
As someone from my generation, I vividly remember when Julio Iglesias dominated international music in the 1970s and 1980s with timeless hits like "Hey," "To All the Girls I've Loved Before," "Begin the Beguine,"and "La Paloma." Enrique followed a different musical path, blending Latin pop with dance, rock, and contemporary pop. Songs such as "Hero," "Escape," "Bailamos," "Rhythm Divine," "Be With You," and "Bailando" made him a global superstar in his own right.
It is quite remarkable that father and son each became international icons in different eras. Julio was the romantic balladeer who captivated audiences with his warm baritone and elegance, while Enrique became one of the pioneers who brought Latin pop into the global mainstream for a younger generation. Few families in music history have produced two singers with such extraordinary worldwide success.
