From the News Sunday Night: Oppenheimer cemented its awards-season front-runner status with a leading eight Critics Choice Awards including Best Picture and Best Director for Christopher Nolan Sunday night in Santa Monica. It indeed was the Barbenheimer Show at the CCAs, with summer rival Barbie finishing second with six wins including Best Comedy. See the full list below.💥
Emma Stone turned in the biggest film upset of the night by taking Best Actress for Searchlight’s Poor Things, after Lily Gladstone won at the Golden Globes last week. But Paul Giamatti won Best Actor for Focus Features’ The Holdovers, repeating his Globes win.
Oppenheimer haul also included Best Acting Ensemble, Visual Effects, Editing, Cinematography and Score. Its Robert Downey Jr followed up his Golden Globe win for Supporting Actor, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph of The Holdovers did the same for Supporting Actress.
Maria Bello and Jonathan Bailey earlier took Supporting Actress and Actor in a limited series or telefilm for Beef and Showtime’s Fellow Travelers, respectively.
Beef and The Bear topped TV with four trophies each, and Succession got three. Universal Pictures led all distributors with eight wins — all for Oppenheimer — and Warner Bros was next with the half-dozen for Barbie.
Netflix walloped the networks and platforms filed with eight wins, doubling both FX and HBO, which had four each. For a list of winners for the Critic Choice Award see:

Jokoy the Globes’ host joked that Oppenheimer was very long. He promised to finish watching the movie by January 2025. How did you like the movie? Do you recommend it to others?
