WELCOME TO CHATEAU DU MER BEACH RESORT

If this is your first time in my site, welcome! Chateau Du Mer is a beach house and a Conference Hall. The beach house could now accommodate 10 guests, six in the main floor and four in the first floor( air conditioned room). In addition, you can now reserve your vacation dates ahead and pay the rental fees via PayPal. I hope to see you soon in Marinduque- Home of the Morions and Heart of the Philippines. The photo above was taken during our first Garden Wedding ceremony at The Chateau Du Mer Gardens. I have also posted my favorite Filipino and American dishes and recipes in this site. Some of the photos and videos on this site, I do not own, but I have no intention on the infringement of your copyrights!

Psilocybin-Extend Life of Human Cells by 50%

One of the topics Discussed in today's Current Events by Ben Lewis ( see brochure below ) was about Magic Mushrooms- Delaying Aging. Thus this posting this for my blog #2 today.

Beneath the forest floor lies a kingdom older than trees, whispering in threads of mycelium. Among its ambassadors is psilocybin—the compound found in certain mushrooms—that’s now the subject of breakthrough research. A new study suggests it may extend the lifespan of human cells by up to 50%. That’s not folklore—it’s emerging science.
Researchers discovered that when human cells were treated with psilocybin under lab conditions, the cells not only aged more slowly but also showed signs of reduced oxidative stress and increased mitochondrial activity. While it’s far too early to call this a fountain of youth, the implications are profound: consciousness-altering compounds might also alter biology in ways we’re just beginning to understand.
Spiritually, this doesn’t surprise us. Indigenous cultures have long honored mushrooms as sacred teachers—guides into realms where time dissolves, and the self reunites with the whole. The medicine of the Earth, they believed, was not just for the mind, but for the spirit and body as well. Once again, science arrives at the gates of ancient knowing.
Psilocybin's known ability to reset brain networks, reduce inflammation, and enhance neuroplasticity already has researchers excited. Add to that the possibility of cellular longevity, and we may be looking at a future where healing includes both inner expansion and outer repair.
This moment in history asks us to blend wisdom traditions with evidence-based care. Psychedelics are not for everyone, and they’re not a fix-all. But their studied effects invite a broader question: How many healing paths have we ignored because they didn’t fit our model of control?
What are your thoughts on the merging of ancient medicine and modern science? Have you had any transformative experiences in nature or with plant-based healing? Your story could help someone open their heart to a deeper way of listening.

A recent study, published in the journal npj Aging in July 2025, has presented preliminary evidence suggesting that psilocybin, the psychedelic compound found in certain mushrooms, may have anti-aging properties at a cellular level
. The research, conducted by scientists at Emory University and Baylor College of Medicine, found that psilocin (the active form of psilocybin) significantly extended the lifespan of human skin and lung cells in laboratory settings, by over 50% in some cases depending on the dosage.
Key findings and mechanisms
  • Cellular lifespan extension: Human fibroblast cells treated with psilocin showed a delayed onset of senescence (cellular aging) and lived up to 57% longer compared to untreated cells.
  • Reduced senescence markers: Psilocin-treated cells exhibited lower activity of key markers associated with cellular aging, including senescence-associated β-galactosidase, p16, and p21.
  • Telomere preservation: Psilocin appeared to help maintain telomere length, which are the protective caps on chromosomes that naturally shorten with age.
  • SIRT1 activation: The study found that psilocin increased levels of SIRT1, a protein associated with regulating cellular aging and longevity.
  • Reduced oxidative stress: Psilocin treatment was linked to a decrease in oxidative stress levels within cells, potentially protecting them from damage caused by free radicals.
  • Improved DNA damage responses: The treated cells showed cellular markers indicating improved DNA damage responses.
  • Improved survival in mice: When administered to aged mice (equivalent to 60-65 human years), psilocybin treatment resulted in an 80% survival rate after 10 months, compared to 50% in the control group. The treated mice also showed visible signs of healthier aging, such as improved fur quality and less graying.
Caveats and future directions
It's crucial to note that this is a preclinical study involving laboratory-grown human cells and aged mice. While the findings are promising, it's a significant leap to conclude that psilocybin can extend human lifespan or be used as an anti-aging therapy at this stage.
Further research is needed to:
  • Understand the mechanisms more deeply: While some pathways were identified, the exact mechanisms by which psilocybin impacts aging are still being explored.
  • Conduct human trials: Studies are necessary to determine if these effects translate to humans, the optimal dosages, frequency of treatment, potential side effects, and long-term safety.
  • Assess potential risks: Extending cellular lifespan could potentially increase the risk of cancer, and this needs careful monitoring.
This research opens up a new and exciting avenue for exploring the potential benefits of psychedelics beyond their traditional uses in mental health treatment. However, it is important to remember that psilocybin remains a controlled substance in many places and is not approved for anti-aging use outside of regulated clinical trials.
