is a vibrant archipelago of 7,641 islands in Southeast Asia, known for its tropical beauty, diverse culture, and dynamic history. It's the Country of My Birth. However, I left the Philippines when I was 26 years old to pursue my graduate studies in the US in 1960. Thanks to decades of migration from caregivers to nurses, engineers, students, and entire families Filipino is now spoken in homes, schools, malls, community centers, and even in local government services across major Canadian cities like Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Vancouver.
Filipinos didn’t just migrate, they reshaped Canada’s linguistic map in a way no one predicted.
