If you've seen this island from the coast of Buenavista, you probably thought of Bellarocca first. But did you know that this is called Elephant Island?
It was also known as Perro Island, the island is called Elephant Island because of its shape resembling an elephant when viewed from the sea.
In the 2000s, the island changed. Here, the Bellarocca Island Resort & Spa was built, a luxurious island resort that became one of the most renowned tourism destinations in Marinduque. It is known for its white buildings with a Santorini-inspired design, a unique view amidst the green island and the blue sea.
But time passed, and the Bellarocca chapter ended.
The resort may have changed. The name may have changed. But Elephant Island is still there.

For those from Marinduque:
I have pleasant memories of this island. We visited the island before it was called Bellarocca. After it was renamed Bellarocca, Macrine and I and several other friends from our medical mission group held after our mission R & R on this island .
| The following photos were memories of our private tour ( with Annie Miles and Aquilana Rivas) of the Bellarocca Beach Resort and Spa in Buenavista, Marinduque. At that time the resort was rated 5 Star and one of the best in Asia. https://asiangrandlegacy.com/portfolio-items/bellarocca-island-resort/ |
