Continuity and Stability
- Many residents value continuity and consistency. How do you plan to provide stability during this period of transition?
- What steps can be taken to reduce turnover among staff, particularly in Activities and Resident Services?
- How important do you believe employee retention is to the overall quality of life of residents?
- Have you faced similar turnover challenges in previous positions, and how did you address them?
Resident Services and Activities
- Activities and Resident Services are often the "heart" of an active senior community. What is your vision for these departments?
- How will you ensure that residents' voices are heard when evaluating programs and services?
- Are there plans to expand or improve activities, excursions, educational programs, or wellness offerings?
- How will you measure success in resident satisfaction?
Employee Relations
- What qualities do you look for in department leaders and supervisors?
- How do you create a work environment where employees feel valued and supported?
- What role does communication play in maintaining healthy relationships among management and staff?

One Question I Would Especially Ask
As a resident who has witnessed considerable turnover, I would ask:
"Many residents have noticed that while Housekeeping, Kitchen, Dining Services, and Maintenance have enjoyed remarkable stability, Activities, Resident Services, and management positions have experienced frequent turnover. What lessons can be learned from this difference, and what steps can be taken to create the same stability across all departments?"
My question is factual, non-accusatory, and difficult to dismiss. It focuses on solutions rather than personalities.
If I am given this interview, it would give residents an opportunity to know the new General Manager while also addressing concerns that many have quietly shared over the past several years.
