Last week was the first activity of this Group Here( Wit and Wisdom Circle) at THD. I did not participate because I felt I do not have not enough wit and wisdom to share to the Group. Evidently, I heard that the first session was a success.
Today, I received an invitation from Lisa Bellini, our Director of Resident Relations to join the second session this Tuesday. Speaking of Lisa, I believe she is doing an excellent job in her job as Director of Resident Relations. Congratulations Lisa and More Power to You!
In the letter of Invitation, Lisa wrote that the first session was a huge success. She wrote, The sense of community and sharing amongst peers was both powerful and insightful. We had a lot of laughs which made the activity very special.
This week meeting will focus on two topics. Topic # 1 is a Quote: If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.
Topic #2: is a Question:"What is one non-financial aspect or realty of "being retired" you have found to be the most challenging? What advice would you offer to someone who was about to retire regarding this challenge?
The letter of invitation also states, that the group will try and maintain a very casual, easy-going environment where you are not expected to come "prepared" in regards to the topics, unless that is what you want to do!
I asked Lisa for the Discussion Leader's Qualifications. Lisa answered me as follows:
I “host” the group but act solely as a facilitator. This is not a therapeutic group (unless one chooses on their own to use it for that purpose) therefore credentials are not necessary. This is more a gathering of community to share the “wit and wisdom” they have accumulated from life experiences.
I AM PLANNING ON ATTENDING. RESERVE A SEAT FOR ME LISA.
Eleanor Roosevelt: "You must do the things you think you cannot do." Frank Lloyd Wright: "The truth is more important than the facts." Mother Teresa: "If you judge people, you have no time to love them." Lucille Ball: "Love yourself first, and everything else falls into place."

Topic #1 concludes there will be fewer fishing poles. It means either fishing pole makers will not be producing enough, or demand is high. It may be due to manufacturers of fishing poles have more important priorities or people have found importance in fishing. I’m now waxing philosophical. There are many ways to skin a cat.
