Here's the introduction of my talk this morning delivered by Joseph Woo. Thank you Joseph for the slides. It added visual clarity during my talk.
" David Balleza Katague was born in the Philippines. He came to the US in 1960 for graduate study at the University of Illinois in Chicago. After getting his Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1964, he worked for three private companies in the field of pesticides residues analytical methods development. In 1990 David and with wife Macrine (63 years-RIP) and 4 children moved to Maryland when he got a new job as a Review Chemist in the Division of New Drugs, Anti-Infectives Drug Products, FDA. In 1992 he was promoted to GS-14 Expert on Anti-Malarial and Anti-Fungal Drug Products. In 1997 he was promoted to Chemistry Team Leader supervising the work of 5 Ph. Chemist in charge of all the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control Requirements for the approval of new anti-infective drugs products including antibiotics in the Center of New Drugs. He maintained this position until his retirement in 2002. David loves to play bridge, asian mahjong and has been a prolific blogger since 2009. David moved to THD in June 1, from Fair Oaks, Ca( suburb of Sacramento). David is very very proud of his Filipino heritage. I decided to wear my lime green Barong instead of the Classic/traditonal/formal white barong, because I want the atmosphere during talk to be very informal and this was a success.
