Fire Solar Halo In Northern California and Other Parts of the World

The morning of June 5, 2025, California was treated to an incredibly rare and awe-inspiring sight: the phenomenon known as the “Fire Solar Halo.” Appearing during sunrise, this extraordinary halo of light encircles the sun, creating a ring of fiery colors that resemble flames stretching out across the sky.
A solar halo is not entirely uncommon, but the fiery appearance of this one is what makes it so special. The rare phenomenon occurs when sunlight interacts with ice crystals high in the atmosphere, typically in cirrostratus clouds. The sunlight refracts through these ice crystals, creating a luminous ring around the sun, often with vibrant colors at the edges. When the conditions are just right, the halo can appear in shades of red and orange—hence the term “Fire Solar Halo.”
This stunning event occurred in California, where many early risers were able to witness this incredible display of nature. The halo lasted only for a short period but left behind a sense of wonder for all who saw it. It’s a reminder of how beautiful and unpredictable our planet’s atmosphere can be. These halos are so rare that some may never witness one in their lifetime, making this event even more extraordinary.
For skywatchers, photographers, and meteorologists alike, the Fire Solar Halo is a reminder of the fascinating interplay between the Earth’s atmosphere and the sun, offering us glimpses of nature’s brilliance when we least expect it.
Keep your eyes to the sky—you never know when the next natural wonder will
unfold.

Another Solar Halo at the Swiss Alps:
At sunrise over the majestic Swiss Alps, nature put on a breathtaking show an extremely rare solar halo appeared in the sky, casting a glowing ring around the rising sun. This stunning phenomenon occurs when sunlight passes through millions of tiny ice crystals suspended in the upper atmosphere, refracting and bending the light into a perfect, ethereal circle.
While solar halos can sometimes be seen in cold regions, capturing one this clearly and during sunrise, no less is an extraordinary sight. The delicate balance of light, altitude, and atmospheric conditions created a moment so surreal it looked otherworldly.
Framed by snow-covered peaks, the halo didn’t just mark the dawn of a new day it reminded everyone lucky enough to witness it of the quiet magic always unfolding in the skies above. Rare, fleeting, and unforgettable.

Meanwhile,
A massive 13-foot sturgeon was recently spotted in Maine’s Kennebec River, offering a rare look at these ancient giants that still swim in our waters. Often called “living fossils,” sturgeon have been around for more than 200 million years, dating back to the time of the dinosaurs.

The largest sturgeon ever recorded was a beluga sturgeon caught in the Volga River in 1827. It measured an astonishing 24 feet long and weighed over 3,400 pounds. With their tough, armored bodies and prehistoric appearance, sturgeon are powerful reminders of nature’s strength and endurance — a living link to Earth’s distant past.
